Students from SouthWest Metro Career and Technical Education programs attended the 51st Annual Minnesota State SkillsUSA Championships Conference on March 27 & 28 in Bloomington. SkillsUSA is a national organization that serves over a quarter million student members annually and helps them become world-class workers and responsible American citizens.

Each spring, approximately 350 business and industry leaders prepare and present skill and leadership contests to student members from across the state. These are entry-level, hands-on skill contests, which are evaluated by the same individuals that prepare them and are passed on industry-driven occupational skill standards. First place winners advance to the National SkillsUSA conference in Louisville, Kentucky on June 25 through 29.
