COVID-19 UpdatesGovernor Walz announced today that all Minnesota school districts, including SouthWest Metro Intermediate District, will implement distance learning plans beginning on Monday, March 30, 2020. Distance learning will continue through at least April 30, 2020. The Governor tentatively directed school staff to report to their work sites on April 30 and May 1, 2020 to develop "return to school" plans anticipating the resumption of traditional school programs in school sites on Monday, May 4, 2020.

Please note: This is a tentative return date. More direction will be given later in the month of April by the Governor.

The Governor has also issued an order for all residents of Minnesota to Shelter in Place for two weeks beginning at midnight on Friday, March 27th. This means all SouthWest Metro staff should work remotely from home for at least this two week period. Our school buildings and facilities will be locked during this two week period with the exception of East Creek Childcare which will continue to operate as per the Governor's directive.

SouthWest Metro Students will be allowed to enter their school building on Friday, March 27th between the hours of 9 AM and 2 PM to pick up any necessary materials currently in their school buildings. SouthWest Metro Staff may return to their classrooms and offices through 2 PM on Friday, March 27th for the same purpose. Key cards will not allow staff entrance into SouthWest Metro buildings again until Monday, April 13th at the earliest.

For students who receive special education services, all IEPs will be served through our distance learning plan posted on our district website. Each student's special education team will work to provide the best possible plan under these unique conditions. When school returns to a face-to-face in classroom format, all IEPs will be reinstated to the plan in place prior to distance learning.

Please monitor the SouthWest Metro Intermediate District Website for ongoing updates.
